Basic Hebrew
Around the world, people of all faiths are preparing for the holiday season, whether it be Christmas, Kwanzaa, or the festival we celebrate here in Israel, Hanukkah – the festival of lights. The word Hanukkah itself means dedication – we celebrate the dedication of the Maccabees to restore the Holy Temple, as well as the miracle of the oil, which brought light to the Israelites.

Rock of Ages, let our song
Praise Thy saving power;
Thou, amidst the raging foes,
Wast our sheltering tower.
Furious they assailed us,
But Thine arm availed us,
And Thy Word
Broke their sword
When our own strength failed us.
