God's Infinite Love
All nature testifies of God's abundant love. Think of the beautiful daisy inthe meadow and the high overaching treetops of the forest. The sunshine and the rain that gladden and refresh the earth, plains, and seas all speak to us of the Creator's love, wisdom, and attentive care. It is God who supplies the daily needs of all His creatures.
When God created the earth, it was very beautiful. Green shrubs and delicate flowers greeted the eye at every turn.
The heights were crowned with trees more majestic than any that now exist.
However, when man sinned and disobeyed God's law,the law oflove, God cursed the ground for man's sake. the thorn and the thistle, which would make man's life one of toil and care, were neccessary to discipline and uplift man from the degradation of sin's curse. However, God's infinite love was still revealed for He covered the thistles with flowers and the thorns with roses.
Everyday when the sun rises and the sunlight beams on the bright green trees giving us food and oxygen, God shows us His untiring care.
Yet sadly, Satan has blinded the minds of men and misrepresented God as judgemental, angry, severe, and unforgiving.
It was to remove this false depiction, by revealing to the world the infinite love of God, that Jesus came to live among men.
The Son of God came from heaven to show man the true character of God. Jesus said, "He who has seen Me has seen the Father." No one else besides Jesus could have been an acceptable height and depth of love of God could show that infinite love to the world.
When Jesus was on earth, He healed all those who were oppressed by Satan. His work revealed His divinity. In every aspect of His life, Jesus showed love, mercy, and compassion to everyone regardless of age, gender, status, or antionality.
With just a single command, Jesus, the almighty Son of God, could calm the rough and violent waters of the sea, and yet, little children loved to climb upon His knees and gaze into His smiling face.
Jesus did not supress one word of truth, but He uttered it always in love. He exercised the greatest tact and thoughtful, kind attention when talking with people. He wasnever rude. He never needlessly spoke a severe word. He did not criticicize or judge others.
He denouncedhypocrisy, unbelief, sin, but He uttered those undeniable rebukes with tears in His voice. His life was one of selfdenial and thoughtful care for others.Every soul was precious to Jesus, no matter how wicked or lost it may have appeared.
Christ's daily life, his thoughts, and actions reveal His character. This is the character of God. It is from the Father's heart that the streams of divine compassion, manifest in Christ, flow out to the children of men. Christ was God "manifested in the flesh."
Jesus left the bliss of heaven, the bosom of His Father, and the adoration of the angels for a world marred with sin to suffer insult, humilation, hatred, and death. He sndured all to redeem fallen man. He became a "Man of Sorrows" that we might enjoy everlasting joy. "The chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed."
Jesus knew from His own experience the indescribable joy of God's company. He overcame any trial because He wished that man be given the choice: eternity in His Father's home, rather than the only penalty of sin: death. Christ was the medium through which God could pour out His infinite love upon a fallen world. In the agony of Gethesemane and the death at Calvary, the heart of Infinite love paid the price.
Christ also identified Himself with the interests and needs of humanity. He has linked himself with the children of men by ties that are never to be broken. We are to look at Him as our Sacrifice, Advocate, fellow Brother, and Example. Thus, through Jesus, we are given a perfect standard of what we may become through Him. It is an amazing honor that Jesus has calledus His brethren!
Through transgression, the sons of man become the subjects of Satan. Through faith in the atoning sacrifice of Christ, the sons of Adam may become the sons of God. By assuming human nature, Christ elevates humanity. Such love is without parallel. What a precious promise! The matchless love of God for a world that did not love Him! This is the true heart of God.
